Mary Louise (Mary Lou) Kurtyka , 87, of Grand Forks, ND passed away Monday, February 10, 2025, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.

Mary Lou was born the daughter of Arthur and Mary Weir on May 4, 1937, in Grand Forks ND. She graduated from Grand Forks Central High School. She married LeRoy Kurtyka at the Salvation Army Church, Grand Forks, ND on November 10, 1956. She worked at National Foods, and the University of North Dakota Bookstore. Mary Lou and LeRoy were avid fighting Sioux hockey fans. After retirement, she was a hostess at Applebee's.  LeRoy preceded her in death on August 29, 2010.

She was a lifelong member of the Salvation Army. She was a very active volunteer with the Salvation Army.

Survived by daughters, Karla (Mike) Bruce, Grand Forks, ND and Patricia (Dave) Ruddy, Robbinsdale, MN; a daughter-in-law, Jan; 6 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, LeRoy, a son, LeRoy, sisters: Erma, Bess, Eva, Beatrice, Delores, Dorothy, and a brother, Art.

Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 22, 2025, in the Historic Norman Funeral Home Chapel.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service in the funeral home on Saturday.
Burial: In the spring of 2025, in Memorial Park North Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
