Mary E. Pietron , 85, of Grand Forks, ND passed away Saturday, December 28, 2019 at her home in Grand Forks.

Mary Eileen Serviss was born January 24, 1934 in Lafayette, IN the daughter of Fredrick and Abagail (McCarthy) Serviss. She was raised in Lafayette and graduated from St. Francis High School in 1952. Following graduation, Mary was employed with Lafayette National Homes. Mary married Leo J. Pietron on January 16, 1960 at St. Thomas Aquinas Newman Center at Purdue University. Leo and Mary moved to Larimore, ND and in 1970 they moved to Grand Forks, ND. Mary was employed with Leo Ferguson in East Grand Forks, MN and Wy's Floral and Walmart in Grand Forks until her retirement. Mary was a longtime member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Grand Forks. She enjoyed reading short stories, word puzzles, playing BINGO and playing cards.

She is survived by her best friend since 2nd grade, Harriett (Burgess) Kemp; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Pietron; her parents, Fredrick Laverne and Abigail (McCarthy) Serviss; brothers, Donald, Daniel, John, Serviss; her twin sister, Mary Ellen Serviss and sisters, Betty Kremer, Helen Fisher, Dorothy Goodlet, Maraget "Tudy" Carlisle.

Liturgy of Christian Burial: 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2020 in the Historic Norman Funeral Home Chapel.
Visitation: One hour prior to the liturgy in the funeral home on Tuesday.
Burial: In the spring, at Bellevue Cemetery, Larimore, ND.
