Mary D. Stavig, 77, of Grand Forks, ND passed away on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Valley Senior Living on Columbia in Grand Forks.

Mary Diane McGuire was born on January 21, 1944 in Grafton, ND the daughter of Edward and Virginia (Sass) McGuire.  Mary said the thing she cherished the most in life was being a mother and grandmother. For decades she faithfully read daily Christian affirmations and she believed in the power of the practice of gratitude. She faced her illness with grace and expressed that she loved her life and the people that shared it. She looked forward to reunion with her loved ones in heaven.

The family of Mary D. Stavig would like to give a special thanks to Hospice of the Red River Valley and Valley Senior Living for their love, care and support for our mom and all of us.

She is survived by four children, Virginia (Don) Bushaw, Michael Stavig, Karen Stavig, and Angela (Peter) Witucki; 3 sisters, Kathy Lilico, Margie Verlarud and Sandra Simonson; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane; her parents, her brothers, Dennis McGuire, Gary McGuire and Kenneth McGuire; her sister, Ellen Smith and daughter-in-law, Jerri Stavig.

Memorial Liturgy: 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2021 in the Historic Norman Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment: 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Grafton, ND.
