Mary A. Thomas, 70, of Grand Forks, ND died on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, due to complications from cardiac surgery, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.

Mary Ann Trostad was born on April 10, 1951, in McVille, ND the daughter of Leonard and Carole (Schindle) Trostad.  She lived most of her childhood years in Cooperstown, ND and graduated from Cooperstown High School.  Mary served her country in the Vietnam War.  She lived in several locations in Texas and North Dakota before settling into the Grand Forks community in 1994.

Mary was a lover of horses.  She was a lifelong crafter and she was always reading a western novel.  She was an active member of the Grand Forks Senior Center where she enjoyed playing bingo and playing cards. Prior to the pandemic, she was able to join in travels to Nashville, Michigan, Las Vegas, and the Grand Canyon.

Mary is survived by her children, Kathy Weisenburger and Kenneth Thomas (Melody Seelye); her granddaughter, Amanda (Cory) Fonstad; great-granddaughter, Harley Fonstad; sisters, Diane (Rick) Bearfield, Laura Trostad, and Carolyn Trostad; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Donna Mae and Debra Stevens, and a brother, Glenn Trostad.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2022, in the Historic Norman Funeral Home Chapel.
Family Greeting: One hour prior to the service in the funeral Home on Friday.
Interment: Mary will be interred with her family at 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2022, in West Prairie Cemetery, Binford, ND.
