Mary Susan (Sue) Thomson (nee Salwei) passed away at the age of 73, on August 24, 2022, after fighting pneumonia and cancer at St. John's Hospital in Maplewood, MN, surrounded by family.

She attended Mayville State University, where she met her husband, Herbert. She loved children, especially babies, and was known mainly as a daycare provider for dozens of families for over 30 years. All who loved her knew her as a fan of TJ Maxx, educational toys, and as a proponent of her children's education and literacy. She enjoyed traveling to the lake and meeting new friends there. She was a fan of progressive politics but was exceptionally tolerant of other people's beliefs. She could be a shy, guarded person, but loved hearing about the lives and particulars of her large extended family.

She is survived by her husband, Herbert (73), and her three children -- her twin sons, Brian and Brent (42), and Chris (47) and his wife, Emma (43), and their children, Avi (10) and Eden (7). She is also survived by her siblings and their respective families: Cathleen Ellen (Kay) and Lonnie Wood (St. Augustine, FL), Janelle and Bruce Klosterman (Minot, ND), Jack and Carol Salwei (Crystal, ND), Jeff and Pauline Salwei (Baudette, MN), Greg and Deanna Salwei (Jacksonville, FL), Scott and Mary Salwei (Hoople, ND), Cyndi and Mark Unruh (Glyndon, MN), and Robyn and Joe Watkins (Grafton, ND).

She was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Brian Salwei, and her parents, John and Mary Ellen Salwei.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 3, 2022, in St. Michael's Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND.
Visitation: One hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Saturday.
Burial :  2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
