Maynard A. Werre , 86, of Grand Forks, ND passed away, after a long illness, on Thursday, November 23, 2023, in Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.

Maynard was born on August 25, 1937, in Grand Forks, ND the son of Jacob and Ella (Kruse) Werre.  He was employed with St. Michael's Hospital, United Hospital and Altru Hospital for 39 years.  He retired 22 years ago.  Maynard married Evonne Lee on August 13, 1993, in Grand Forks.

Maynard loved NASCAR racing, Minnesota Viking's football, and watching many sports on television.  He enjoyed going to the lake, and in his younger years, bringing his many grandchildren with him.

He is survived by his wife, Evonne; a son, Maynard J. Werre, Grand Forks, ND; daughters, Ellen Werre, Grand Forks, ND, Betty Lee, Grand Forks, ND, Julie Werre, Nielsville, MN, and Lora Werre, Grand Forks, ND; a sister, Judy Pabon, Seattle, WA; 22 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ronald Werre; sisters, Ellen Weber and Betty Duval and 2 grandchildren, Nicole Olstad-Werre and Paul Bays.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 1, 2023, in the Historic Norman Funeral Home Chapel.
Family Greeting: One hour prior to the service in the funeral home on Friday.
Interment: Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
