Mike Demers , age 55, of Bismarck, ND and formerly of Oakwood, ND, passed away March 31, 2023, in Bismarck, ND.

Michael Paul Demers was born on November 7, 1967, in Grafton, ND.  He was the 6th and youngest child of Duane and Mary Ann (Suda) Demers.  He grew up in Oakwood, ND and attended school in Grafton, graduating from Grafton High School in 1986.  He went on to attend the University of Minnesota Technical College in Crookston, MN.

Mike married Susie Scheinost on June 23, 1989, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oakwood.  They made their home in Billings, MT, where Mike was employed with Tractor Supply Company.  Mike and Susie eventually went their separate ways.  Mike moved to Sioux City, IA and continued to be employed with TSC.  Mike was employed with Lowes and returned to North Dakota and settled in the Bismarck area.  After leaving Lowes, he was employed with MBI Energy Services in Mandan, ND, commuting between Bismarck, ND and Minot, ND.  At the time of his passing, he was employed with Brandoz Concrete, in Bismarck, as an Office Manager.

Mike loved sitting around a campfire with family and friends, motoring up and down the Missouri River on his pontoon and working in his garden, at his home in Lincoln, ND. He was a masterful storyteller.  His beloved nieces and nephews could spend hours around a fire listening to tales of his childhood and teenage years.  Sometimes their parents would have to say, "Don't ever do that." He will be missed by so many people.

Mike is survived by his siblings, Brian (Cindy) Demers, Madison, MN, Laurie Nill, Alexandria, MN, Connie Demers, Marshall, MN, Cathy (Steve) Kennedy, Grand Forks, ND, and Steve (Brandy) Demers, East Grand Forks, MN.  He is also survived by his much-loved nieces and nephews, Polly (Demers) DeZurik, Moriah Demers, Derrick Demers, Lauren (Demers) Triplett, Jared Nill, Andrew Nill, Evan Nill, Megan (Nill) Woller, Ashley (Kennedy) Wavrin, Jacob Kennedy, Kari (Kennedy) Schwanz, Grant Demers and Grace Demers; 22 great-nieces and nephews; many aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Duane and Mary Ann; grandparents, Ovila and Irene (French) Demers and Frank J. and Antoinette (Karnik) Suda; 3 aunts; 2 uncles, and a cousin, Russell French.

Make-a-Wish Foundation of North Dakota was an important organization to Mike.  He met many young cancer patients while he was going through his treatments.  His family asks that if you are so moved, please make a donation to this organization in Mike's name.

Memorial Liturgy: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2023, in the Historic Norman Funeral Home Chapel.
Family Greeting: One hour prior to the liturgy in the funeral home on Saturday.
Interment: Mike will be buried alongside his parents in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Oakwood, ND.
