Michael R. Tetrault, 82, of Grand Forks, ND passed away Sunday, December 19, 2021, at his home in Grand Forks.

Michael Raymond Tetrault was born on August 26, 1939, in Belcourt, ND the son of Theodore and Mary Ann (Kinney) Tetrault.  His preschool years were divided between living on the family farm in Shell Township, North Dakota and Grand Forks, ND.  At the age of five, he moved with his family to Belcourt and he attended school at St. Anne's Mission School. After the family returned to the family farm, he attended Shell Valley School.  When the family farm was sold, he moved with his family to Rolette, ND and he graduated from Rolette High School.  Following his graduation, he was employed with the building and construction of the Minot Air Force Base.

On December 2, 1957, Michael, along with his cousin, Joe enlisted in the United States Army.  He was stationed at Fort Benning, GA and worked in the Army Personnel Division.  In the spring of 1959, he was transferred to Neureut, Germany and he worked doing company payroll.  While stationed in Germany, he managed to travel to Paris, Rome and Switzerland.  He was honorably discharged from active military service on December 2, 1960 and returned to Grand Forks.  Michael married Anna Ledoux on November 24, 1962, in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grand Forks.  Together, they had three children, Allen, Renae and James.   Michael was employed at the Grand Forks Air Force Base until his employment with the Grand Forks Post Office.  During his 30 plus years of postal employment, he served as a Postal Employee Union Officer.

After his retirement, he helped Anna with her home daycare.  He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) and served as treasurer for 15 years.  He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and a lifetime member of the Disabled Veterans of America.  Anna preceded him in death on June 4, 2007.

He is survived by his daughter, Renae (Duane) Meagher, Three Forks, MT a son, James (Holly) Tetrault, Phoenix, AZ; a sister, Betty Mitchell; 3 grandchildren, Ali, Krista and M.J. Meagher and 3 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anna; an infant son, Allen and 4 brothers and sisters.

Interment: In the spring, at the Garden of the Evangelists Columbarium, Calvary North Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
Military Honors: Accorded at the time of interment, by members of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 2, The American Legion Post 157, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3817 and the North Dakota Army National Guard.
