Nina J. Harlow , 95, of Grand Forks, ND passed away of natural causes on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at Valley Senior Living- Woodside Village in Grand Forks.

Nina Jean Gates was born May 1, 1925 in Loraine, ND the daughter of John and Edna (Chase) Gates. She was raised on a farm in Loraine and attended school in Loraine, ND and Mohall ND. Nina went on to attend Western Union School. Nina married James "Jim" Harlow on July 6, 1946 in Mohall, ND. They moved to Grand Forks and together raised 8 children. She was a longtime member of St Michael's Catholic Church and Altar Society, Forks Handicap, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Triple E. Homemakers Club and was a leader in 4H Club. James preceded her in death on September 14, 1991.

Besides being a wife, she was nurturing to her 8 children. She had a heart of gold and always had a smile and words of comfort, support and encouragement to family, friends and others. Nina loved going and seeing her large extended family, but never stayed more than 10 days. She could not stand to be away from home any longer. Besides taking great care of her family, she worked as a contractor with Northwest Airlines for many years even taking her youngest child to work with her. Also, she worked at Western Potato Company and was a Home Health Aide for Social Services until her MS made it so she had to retire. Yes, she did all this having MS and not knowing about her illness until her late 50's with 8 children.

She is survived by her sons, James "Jay" (Anna) Harlow, Sacramento, CA, John (Tish) Harlow, Redmond, OR, Joe (Lisa) Harlow, Perham, MN and Jeff (Juli) Harlow, East Grand Forks, MN; her daughters, Jeannie (Garry) Bouvette, Devils Lake, ND, Jackie Harlow, Reseda, CA and Joyce (Randy) Morkve, Grand Forks, ND; a sister, Patricia "Pat" (Mrs. Kenard) Heffter, Sherwood, ND and a daughter-in-law, Cheryl (Mrs. Jeri) Harlow, Grand Forks, ND; 20 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; her husband, Roman Zins; a son, Jeri Harlow; her brothers, Robert "Bob" Gates, Wilfred "Bill" Gates, Jerry Gates and Jacky Gates; a sister, Maryann Hendricks and a brother-in-law, Kenard Hefter.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 14, 2020 in St. Michael's Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND.
Visitation: 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday with a 2:30 p.m. rosary service and 5:00 p.m. Vigil service in the Historic Norman Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Monday.
Burial: Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
