Olivia LaDouceur, 92, Grand Forks, ND passed away of natural causes on Sunday, April 26, 2020 at Valley Senior Living-Columbia Road in Grand Forks.

Olivia Bitz was born April 22, 1928 in Jamestown, ND the daughter of Fred and Emma (Scheurer) Bitz.  Olivia was raised and attended school in Jamestown. Olivia met John LaDouceur at a dance in Jamestown and they moved to Crookston, MN. John and Olivia were united in marriage on July 16, 1962. Later, they moved to Grand Forks. The jobs she most fondly remembered and talked about regularly included a Chinese café, Woolworths, and Wilkerson Hall at the University of North Dakota, where she retired.

Olivia loved anything purple, any type of needlework, sewing quilts and doing latch hook art for the family, painted fingernails, beautiful blouses, jigsaw puzzles, word finds, making silly faces for pictures, "fan food," cats and dogs, Hollywood gossip, watching ice skating, listening to country music, and above all, her family (all of whom were her favorites). She lived for her family and the time they could all be together. She especially loved Christmas with the family.

Olivia is survived by her sons, Dennis (Lavonne) Bitz Blaine, MN and David (Kathy) LaDouceur Grand Forks, ND; her daughters, Karen Booker East Grand Forks, MN, Sheryl Belgarde Grand Forks, ND, Debbie (Carl Devon) Rodriguez West Covina, CA and Dawn Dargan Grand Forks, ND; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews and sisters-in-law, Joyce LaDouceur and Mildred LaDouceur.

Olivia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; a son, Mike Zacek; three brothers; a sister; a son-in-law; 4 grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at Valley Senior Living and also to Altru Hospice.

A Private Funeral Liturgy: Will be celebrated in the Historic Norman Funeral Home Chapel.
