Orris "Orrie" Gulson , 89, of East Grand Forks, MN and formerly of Grand Forks, ND passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at his daughter's home in East Grand Forks, under the care of Hospice.

Orris Tellman Gulson was born on August 31, 1934, in Grand Forks, ND the son of Oscar and Thelma (Hegg) Gulson.  He was raised in Grand Forks, graduating from Grand Forks Central High School in 1953.  Orris went on to graduate from the University of North Dakota with a degree in Education.  Later in life, he returned to college and obtained his master's degree in education.   Orrie married the love of his life, Anne Marie Dunn on September 10, 1956, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Crookston, MN.  In 1966, they moved to Grand Forks and raised their family.   Anne preceded him in death on June 4, 2011.

Orrie was an avid golfer and loved attending high school musicals and sporting events with his grandchildren.  After 26 years of teaching at Grand Forks Central High School, Orrie retired in 1994.  He continued as a substitute teacher at Red River High School in Grand Forks until 2016.  After retirement, he enjoyed spending his winter months with his wife, Anne, at Fort Walton Beach, FL.  He loved spending time with his family and friends and was known for his generosity to everyone he encountered.  Most of all, Orrie was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his daughters, Barbara (Carl) Svendsen, Bradenton, FL, Cindy Hagen, East Grand Forks, MN, Annette (Jim) Reid, Quarryville, PA, and Jill (Jim) Hauer, Aberdeen, MD; 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anne; a granddaughter, Maureen and a son-in-law, Richard Hagen.

In honoring Orrie's wishes, no funeral is planned.  An interment next to his wife will take place at a later date at St. Paul Cemetery in Euclid, MN.
