Paul Frank Biggs , 87, Grand Forks, ND, died in the comfort of his own home on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.

He was born on August 8, 1937, to George and Stella (Brackin) Biggs in his mother's bedroom in Hankinson, ND.

As a youngster, hunting and fishing were a passion. He started going hunting alone in 1949 at the age of 12 with a 20-gauge bolt action shotgun. He purchased all equipment including shells etc.... with his own money, no handouts and learned to work for what he wanted.

He graduated in the class of 1953 from St. Francis Academy in Hankinson, ND.  He furthered his education at the North Dakota State School of Science, graduating in 1957, with an Associate's Degree in Electric Trades. After graduating, he secured a job as an electrician helper working for Minnkota Power Cooperative, starting on July 15, 1957 @ $1.75/hr. and finished his career on February 6, 1998, as an equipment maintenance superintendent.

Three days after starting at MPC, he moved out of the YMCA and into a boarding house owned by Loretta Sevigny (Lechner). This was to be his destiny. There he met the greatest woman in the world, Gertrude Gerszewski (Biggs). He had a frozen turkey from work, and she had a freezer to store it in. It was Christmas 1957. He moved at the pace of a turtle. Their first date was May 10, 1959. He thought she was "serious" when she had him take her to her parents' farm for Father's Day 1959 "just about scared him off." Mom always said, "he had a car, and I needed a ride" She was the only woman he truly loved and dated. They were married on Sept 8, 1962.

He proudly volunteered to serve in the Army from April 13, 1960, to May 8, 1962. His time was extended due to the Cuban Missel Crisis. He was a Specialist 4th Class. In 2023, he got to go on an Honor Flight to Washington DC.

In December 1974, the family moved into their home that was under construction. This was Paul's pride and joy for 51 years. He had always wanted to provide a nice place for his family to live and spent most of his nights and weekends, as well as vacation time, for the next 25 years "finishing it off." Prior to his death, he had asked to return to the home that he had built and loved.

Paul is survived by his children, Suzanne (Todd) Romine, Elaine (Kevin) Chapman, and Steven (Diane) Biggs; his grandchildren, Alexandra (Nick) Strand, Francesca (Dustin) Skaare, Kory Chapman, Emily Romine, Maxwell (Trae) Romine, Ian Romine, Megan, Nichole and Erica Biggs; his great-grandchildren, Hadley and Orrin Strand, Julian, Oscar and Leo Skaare, and brother, George Biggs; sisters in- law, Connie Biggs, Anna Seeba and Loretta Lechner (Sevigny).

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude, parents, George and Stella Biggs, and brother, Rodger Biggs, and numerous brothers and sisters- in- law.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2025, in Holy Family Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND.
Visitation: 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in Holy Family Catholic Church on Monday.
Recitation of the Rosary: 9:30 a.m. in the church on Monday.
Burial: Monday, May 5, 2025, in Calvary South Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
Military Honors: Accorded by members of the American Legion Post 157, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3817 and the North Dakota Army National Guard Honors Team.
