Philip "Phil" Krump , 90, Grand Forks, ND died Saturday, November 14 ^th , 2020, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, after a brief illness.

Philip Anthony Krump was born November 24 ^th , 1929, the son of Theodore and Esther (Moltzan) Krump in Wahpeton, ND. He attended St. John's Elementary School and graduated from Wahpeton High School. He worked two summers for the US Forest Service on a fire crew in Idaho, prior to enlisting in the US Air Force, where he served four years, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant prior to an honorable discharge.  Phil then graduated from NDSSS in Wahpeton where he studied Architectural Drafting.

Phil married the love of his life Dolores (Dee) Mich on June 20 ^th , 1953, at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Donnelly, MN. Phil and Dee moved to Grand Forks in 1954 where he began his career in retail lumber management with Quirk Lumber, Gardner Lumber and Robertson Lumber.  He and his wife were charter and lifelong members of Holy Family Catholic Church, where Phil sang in the choir.  Phil and Dee enjoyed dinner and dancing at the Elks Club, and he enjoyed dancing at family celebrations.  They celebrated 50 years of marriage prior to her death in 2003.

Phil remained independent and enjoyed many and varied hobbies. He loved to hunt and fish, and spent countless hours sharing his love of the outdoors and his appreciation of nature with his family. An avid reader and lifelong learner, some of his interests included: history, music, woodworking, muzzle loading rifles, and crafting knives.  Phil loved home-cooked meals, and there was nothing he enjoyed more than sharing a meal with family and friends.

Phil's greatest joy was spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He took the time to know and to foster relationships with each of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his many nephews and nieces. Phil's humor, enthusiasm for life, and love of learning were an inspiration to everyone who knew him. Phil was a model of perseverance and resiliency to his family as he faced the challenges of life with tremendous grace and courage.

Phil is survived by a daughter, Mary (Tim) Davidson, Rio Rancho, NM; sons, Mark (Mary), Ham Lake, MN; Paul (Anne), Mendham, NJ; Peter (Deborah), St. Cloud, MN; thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. He is also survived by a brother, Theodore (Nancy), Deer Creek, MN; sisters LaVonne (Ed) Lasher, Gardena, CA; Donna (Kirby) Stone, Wahpeton, ND; Patricia Roland, Kindred, ND; Theodora Lindberg, Powell, WY; Kay (Red) Gade, Ada, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Phil was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores, his son, Matthew, infant son, John Patrick, grandson, Adam Krump, his parents and three sisters, Beatrice Daniels, Marilyn Monson, and infant Lorelei Krump.

Memorial Mass: 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 11, 2021 in Holy Family Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND.
Family Greeting: One hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Friday.
Interment: Calvary North Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
Military Honors: Accorded by members of the American Legion Post 157, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3817 and the Grand Forks Air Force Base Honor Guard.
