Rachel Ann Wilson (née Cavazos)

August 26, 1952 – July 1, 2026

If you knew Rachel Ann Wilson, you knew she wasn't going to win any awards for filtering her thoughts. She was stubborn, fiercely loyal, cussed like a sailor, and had absolutely no interest in pretending to be anyone other than herself. The older she got, the less she cared what anyone thought—and honestly, she'd probably tell you that was one of the best parts of getting older.

Rachel passed away peacefully at her home in East Grand Forks, Minnesota, on July 1, 2026, at the age of 73.

Born on August 26, 1952, in Inkster, North Dakota, Rachel spent many years working in the microfiche industry before becoming what she considered her most important job: being a wife and mother. She built her life around the people she loved and never hesitated to stand up for them. If she loved you, you knew it. If someone crossed you, they probably knew it too.

Rachel was happiest spending time with her husband, Brett, who preceded her in death in October 2025. She also loved football, WWE wrestling, her five Chihuahuas (who have all since found loving homes), and, if we're being honest, occasionally enjoying what she affectionately considered "medicinal herbs." She appreciated life's simple pleasures and never saw much point in apologizing for them.

She is survived by her daughter, Shannon M. Bailey (Taylor); her son, Jeremy W. Taylor; her grandchildren, Sean M. Taylor, Miguel A. Perez, Cristiano C. Perez, and Genesis A. Perez; and her great-grandchildren, Mason P. Taylor, Logan B. Taylor, Leo Perez, Elias Perez, and one eagerly awaited great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Brett Wilson, and her parents, Alice and John.

Rachel wasn't a fan of being the center of attention, so in true Rachel fashion, we're skipping the formal graveside service. Instead, family and friends are invited to celebrate her life with food, stories, laughter, and probably a few choice words she would've appreciated at a Farewell BBQ was held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at her grandsons house in Fargo, North Dakota.

Rachel spent her life loving hard, protecting her family, speaking her mind, and living on her own terms. We'd like to think she'd tell us not to spend too much time crying, to take care of each other, and to remember the good stories—the ones that start with, "Remember when Mom…"
