Raymond Joseph Lein , 86, of Grand Forks, ND passed away on Monday August 15, 2022 at his home, surrounded by loved ones.

Ray was born May 17, 1936 in Minto, ND, to Rose and Roman Lein. Ray was the oldest of three children. He attended Minto High School and graduated in 1954. After high school, Ray enlisted in the Army and served at Vashon Island, Washington. After his service in the Army, Ray attended Barber school.

In 1961, Ray married Shirley Stoltman, and together they moved to Grand Forks, ND; and raised three children. Ray was employed by Millers Barbershop before he purchased Town and Country Barbershop. He worked there until his retirement. Ray loved people and his job and he continued to work part time cutting hair until almost 80 years old.

Ray married Janice Maszk in 2003. This union extended his family to include step-children, even more grandchildren and a great grandchild. Janice lovingly cared for Ray during his last days while watching countless hours of cowboy movies, holding his hand and keeping him comfortable.  For this the family will be eternally grateful.

Ray loved to fish, spend time on the water, watch his grandkids play sports, visit the cabin, BBQ and talk to absolutely everyone around town. He was interested in all sports but especially enjoyed watching Sioux hockey. Ray was also a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus.

Ray was known and loved by so many. His infectious smile, laugh and ability to strike up a conversation with literally anyone, will be greatly missed. Our loss is truly heaven's gain.

Ray is survived by his wife, Janice; sisters, Jeanie Lynch, and Elizabeth Lein; children, Todd (Donna) Lein, LaRae (Kurt) Dallmann, Jill (Mike) LaMoine; grandchildren, Emily, Jack, Adam, Matthew and Luke; step children, Lauri Hanson, Kenny Maszk and Sara (Paul) Jorgenson; step grandchildren Curtis (Ashley), Deion, DesiRae, Madison and MaKayla; a step great-grandchild, Hendricks; many nieces, nephews and godchildren

Ray was preceded in death his parents, and a brother-in-law, Gene Lynch.

Memorial service: Monday, August 22, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. in the Norman Funeral Home in Grand Forks.

Visitation: One hour before service time in the funeral home.
