Raymond Herman Smude , 92 of Larimore, ND passed away peacefully on Friday April 10, 2020 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Raymond was born September 18, 1927 to John and Valeria (Matlock) Smude in Little Falls, MN. One of 6 children, Raymond spent his youth working on the farm in Harding, MN. In 1944, Raymond and his family moved to Grand Forks, ND. Raymond joined the military where he was a military policeman for 4 years. He returned to the family farm in Larimore. He moved to Minneapolis, MN to start his boxing career. In 1955, he won the Golden Glove for boxing. He was married twice and had no children. He purchased the family farm in Larimore and farmed there for 40 years. In his spare time, he played in a family band, The Pic-A-Dors, with his sister, (Pat) Smude (Gertrude).

He is survived by his sister Gertrude (Pat) Smude brother in law George Bienek, and many nieces and nephews.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Agnes Bauer, Reinhard "Butch", Lorranie Sorum and Hildegard Bienek.

The family would like to thank all the nurses from Larimore for all the comfort and help they gave Ray while on the farm when he needed it. Also, Glen Schmitz for all his help to Ray when he needed it.

Private funeral services were held at the Historic Norman Funeral Home in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
