Richard J. Allard, 79, of Climax, MN passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at his home in Climax, surrounded by his loving family.

Richard Joseph Allard was born on August 27, 1944, in Grand Forks, ND the son of Phillip and Mary (Kays) Allard.  He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in East Grand Forks, MN.  On May 8th, 1965, Richard married Theresa (Effhauser) at St Michaels Catholic Church in Grand Forks, ND.  Richard was employed with King of Spuds, Alviger's Gas Station, and Grand Forks Grocery.  At the age of 17 he took over the family business of Allard's Market.  After several years with his wife, Theresa, they started Allard's Greenhouse which then became Allard's Market and Greenhouse until his retirement in 2010.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa and children, Richard (Sherri) Allard, West Fargo, ND, JoAnn Allard, Drayton, ND, Renee (Scott) Elbinger, Crookston, MN and David Allard, Grand Forks, ND.  Grandchildren, whom he always called by the nicknames he gave them: Justine "Tweety Bird" (Mitch) Behm, Chas "Chaz-Mania" Elbinger, Jeremy "Gorbie" Ostby, Kailey "Woman" (Jonny) Maley, Steven "Happy" (Eva) Allard, Rachel "Sparrow" Allard, Tony, "R Man" Elbinger; Great-grandchildren, Mikinzy, Owen, Maxton and Bjornar. Siblings, John Allard, and Mary Ann Allard. Sister-in-law Stella Allard and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents, Phillip, and Mary Allard; In-laws Louie and Rose Effhauser, a brother, Francis P. Allard and a sister, Janice McIntosh.

Memorial Mass: 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2024, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, East Grand Forks, MN.
Family Greeting: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 4:45 p.m. rosary service and a 7:00 p.m. vigil service in the funeral home on Tuesday.  Family greeting will continue for one hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Wednesday.
Interment: Resurrection Cemetery, East Grand Forks, MN.
