Rita Y. Ahles, 86, of Grand Forks, ND passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, February 13, 2025, in Woodside Village- Valley 4000 on 42nd.

Rita Yvonne Wolters was born on April 8, 1938, in Hallock, MN, the daughter of Lawrence and Fidelis (Tri) Wolters.  She was raised in East Grand Forks, MN and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1956 and went on to graduate from Aaker' Business College. Rita married Tommy G. Ahles on July 23, 1960, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  She was employed as a cook manager with the Grand Forks Public School District.   Tommy preceded her in death on February 16, 2011.

She enjoyed reading, playing cards, puzzles, Tops Club, Belmont Club and bird watching.  She was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grand Forks and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court Marquette #677.

Rita is survived by her children, Rose (Jon) Drake, Barb (Greg) Tingelstad, Lawrence (Darla) Ahles. Kathy (Duane) Reiser, Mike (Jody) Ahles and Tira (Tom) Kornell and Mary (Dennis) Hilden; grandchildren, Evan (Nicole) Miller, Jana (Cody) Schroeder, Ryan (Carly) Miller, Hiliary (Jerad) Houser, David (Paula) Mills, Gage (Katie) Mills, Shelby (John) Johnson, Jacob (Christene Williamson) Kornell, Julia (Lance Nelp) Kornell, Nathan (Ashley Santangelo) Ahles, Gabrielle (Josh) DeFoe, Sara (Louis) Mejak, Brady Fliflet, Dillon Fliflet, Michael (Ciera) Ahles, Ryan (Kasie) Lee, Sara (Jeremy) Larson, Tommy Ahles, Adam Tingelstad, Amanda Hilden, and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tommy; an infant daughter, Sheila; a grandson, Noah Ahles; her sister, Sheila Wolters and a brother, Theodore Wolters.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 17, 2025 in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND.
Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday with a 6:30 p.m. rosary service and 7:00 p.m. vigil service in the Historic Norman Funeral Home. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Monday.
Burial: 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2025 at Calvary North Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
