Robert "Bob" Litzinger, 93, of Grand Forks, ND passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2024, in Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.

Robert James Litzinger was born on August 29, 1930, in Devils Lake, ND the son of Bernard and Mae (Deitz) Litzinger.  He moved with his family to Grand Forks and attended St. Michael's Catholic School.  Robert enlisted in the North Dakota Army National Guard on February 26, 1952, at Fargo, ND.  He was called into active duty with the United States Army and served as a combat medic and with a combat railroad battalion during the Korean War. He was awarded a Combat Medic Badge, and two Korean Service Medals. He was honorably discharged from active military service with the rank of Corporal on January 21, 1954, at Camp Stoneman, California. He returned to Grand Forks and began his employment with the Great Northern Railroad.   Robert continued to be employed as a carman with the Burlington Northern Railroad until his retirement in 1991.

Robert married Lois Robertson on July 4, 1949, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Grand Forks.  Lois preceded him in death in 2001.  Robert married Janet Jackson on October 10, 2003, in St. Michael's Catholic Church and they continued to reside in Grand Forks.  Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, gambling at casinos, and sitting around a campfire at Pine Lake in Minnesota. He was an active and lifetime member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Grand Forks.

He is survived by his wife, Janet; a son, Randy Litzinger, Grand Forks, ND; daughters, Mary Kay (Kreston) Lane, Port Saint Lucie, FL and Carol (Rod) Erickson, Grand Forks, ND;  stepchildren, Roberta (Geno) Celano, Destin, FL, Wendy (Steve) Kalenze, Mary Esther, FL, and Greg Jackson, Fargo, ND; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lois; a son, Steve Litzinger; a grandson, and his siblings.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 29, 2024, in St. Michael's Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND.
Visitation: One hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Monday.
Burial : In the spring of 2024, in Calvary North Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
Military Honors :  Accorded at the time of burial, by members of The American Legion Post 157, The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3817 and the North Dakota Army National Guard.
