Robert Allan "Bob" Lutovsky , 73, of Grand Forks, ND passed away unexpectedly near Reynolds, ND on October 23, 2021.

Bob was born on May 11, 1948, in Grafton, ND to Delphine (Misialek) and Leonard Lutovsky. He started his academic career in a one room schoolhouse in Voss, ND. He was later bussed to Minto where he graduated from high school in 1966.   He attended UND for 3 years but always told his grandchildren that he went to "Voss University". Most of them believed him until they were around ten years old. Bob managed McDonald's in Grand Forks for a few years. He married Christine Evenstad on June 25, 1976. They had two children, Mandy Rae and Derek Ryan. They later divorced.

Bob's passion in life was cars. He sold them, bought them, financed them and traded them. He did everything but work on them. Thankfully his love of cars led him to his wife, Joan Nieland Lutovsky. They met in 1986 when Bob was a sales manager at Eide Motors in Grand Forks and Joan was buying a brand new Buick Skyhawk. They married on October 16, 1987. From this union, Bob acquired two "bonus" children, Maggi and Colby.   Bob loved to read, keep up with current events, and be there for his family and friends in every way possible. He had a special way of bringing out the best in everyone he encountered.   Bob retired in 2015 and started spending his winters in Mesa, AZ. He loved the desert and was thrilled when his family and friends came to visit.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Joan Nieland Lutovsky, Grand Forks, his daughter, Mandy (Ryan) Tollefson, Fargo, his son, Derek (Laura) Lutovsky, Kansas City, MO, his "bonus" daughter, Maggi (Daryl) Lund, rural Thompson, ND, and "bonus" son Colby (Amy) Lysne, Bismarck, ND as well his mother, Delphine Lutovsky, West Fargo, brothers Roger Lutovsky, Hamilton, MT, and Jim Lutovsky, Manteno, IL, sisters Nancy (Ron) Gette, Gainesville, TX, Sandra Lutovsky, Moorhead, MN, Peggy Lutovsky, Bismarck, Kris (Al) Hintz, Fargo, and Jennifer (Darin) Johnson, Rogers, MN, Grandchildren Jonah Lund, Avery Tollefson, Haidyn Tollefson, Jack Lund, and Spencer Lysne.

He was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, his father, Leonard Lutovsky, his father-in-law, Roger Nieland, his brother, Donald Lutovsky, his sister in law, Sandra (Pearson) Lutovsky, and sister in law Laura Nieland Casper.

Memorial Mass: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 28, 2021, in St. Michael's Catholic Church in Grand Forks, ND.
Family Greeting: 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday with a 6:30 p.m. rosary service and 7:00 p.m. vigil service in the Historic Norman Funeral Home Chapel.  Family Greeting will continue for one hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Thursday.
Military Honors: Accorded by members of the American Legion Post 157, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3817 and the North Dakota Army National Guard.
Interment: At a later date.
