Robert "Robbie" Votava , 70, of Grand Forks, ND passed away Monday, August 28, 2023, at his home in Grand Forks.

Robert Dale Votava was born on September 17, 1952, in Grafton, ND, the son of Ewald and Lucille (Kiedrowski) Votava.  He was the oldest of seven children.  He was raised in Minto, ND and graduated from Minto High School in 1970.  Robbie was fond of playing baseball in high school and was great at trapshooting.  He shot with the Ewald's Bar Team at the Grand Forks Gun Club.

Robbie was employed for many years at Ewald's Bar and Lounge, which his parents owned.  He was also employed in farming and custom combining.  His last years of employment consisted of asbestos removal.  Robbie enjoyed gardening, canning, and cooking.  His other hobbies included fishing and hunting.  In his later years, he became an avid television fan, watching news, westerns, and lots of sports.  The Fighting Sioux were his favorite sports team.

He is survived by his siblings, Lonny (Randi) Votava, Fort Gratiot, MI, Kathy (David) Lofthus, Grand Forks, ND, Suzi Tibert, Minto, ND, Vikki Votava, Honeyford, ND, Nancy Kay Votava, and Lori Lu Votava, both of Grand Forks, ND and many nieces and nephews.

Robbie was preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law, Joseph McDonald, and Mark Tibert.

In lieu of flowers, Robbie's family requests that donations be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, P.O. Box 316 Minto, ND 58261.

Visitation: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 29, 2023, with a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service in the Historic Norman Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment: 12:00 p.m. Saturday, September 30, 2023, in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Minto, ND.
