Robert J. Zimmer, a resident of Woodside Village, Grand Forks, ND passed away on March 7, 2020.

Robert was born on December 19, 1939 in Grand Forks, ND the son of Leonard and Evelyn (Bohlman) Zimmer. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in East Grand Forks, MN and attended the University of North Dakota where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. While on active duty with the United States Army, Robert served an overseas tour of duty in Germany.

Robert relocated to San Diego, CA in 1966 and it was there that he met his future wife, Doris Scolari and they were married on March 1, 1971. Doris was employed by the Athletic Department of San Diego State University and the couple became avid sports fans, particularly of Aztec football. They travelled with the football team to some of its out-of-state games, their favorites being in Las Vegas and Hawaii.

Robert was employed by AT&T Information Systems and its successors, Lucent and Nokia, for twenty-five years. Subsequent to his retirement from AT&T, Robert joined the Scripps Institute in LaJolla, CA as an information Systems Equipment Technician.

Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, of forty-eight years, Doris Zimmer

He is survived by his twin brother, William Zimmer, Grand Forks, ND; niece, Jean Ann Anthony, San Clemente, CA; nephews, James Zimmer, Bloomington, MN, Jeff Zimmer, San Diego, CA and John Zimmer, Redondo Beach, CA; aunts, Betty (Bohlman) Daily, Fargo, ND and Fern Martin, Bowie, MD; an uncle Paul Zimmer, Poway, CA and several special cousins.
