Roger P. Mattern , 77, of Grand Forks, ND passed away Friday, June 4, 2021 at his home in Grand Forks.

Roger Pious Mattern was born June 30, 1943 in Rugby, ND the son of Wendelin and Mary Ann (Schmidt) Mattern. He attended Little Flower Catholic School through the 8 ^th grade and graduated from Rugby High School, where he participated in wrestling.  After high school, Roger attended North Dakota State School of Science, studying Auto Body Repair.

Roger and Alice Burnett Veirs were married November 4, 1983 in Miles City MT.  Roger worked at jobs in Jamestown ND and Miles City, MT before moving to Grand Forks in 1990.  He managed Gateway Terrace Mobile Home Park until his retirement in 2010. Following retirement, he enjoyed playing cards at the Grand Forks Senior Center.

Roger is survived by his wife, Alice; his children, Paul (Karen) Mattern of Idaho, Kristie Mattern of Tacoma, WA, Jennifer Gaking of University Place, WA, Kim Wade, currently living in Japan, Virginia (Darin) Myers of Casper, WY and Kathy (Jim) Tiller of Bethany, MO; a sister, Liz Mattern, Shoreview, MN; sister-in-law,  Rose (Mrs. Tim) Mattern of Oregon; his grandchildren, Amanda, Ashley, Jessica, Darren, J. C. Dobbins, Janette Dobbins, Bridger Myers and a great-granddaughter, Sophia; numerus nephews and nieces and former wife, Pamela Mattern.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Rosemary Lee, an infant sister; brothers, Bob Mattern, Jerome Mattern, Tim Mattern and Louis Mattern.
