Ruby R. Wakeman, 80, of Grand Forks, ND went to heaven on Sunday, May 10, 2020 after spending Mother's Day with her family at Villa St. Vincent in Crookston,, MN.

Ruby Rachel Powers was born on May 13, 1939 in Pineville, WV the daughter of Charlie and Naomi (Money) Powers. She moved with her family to Bemidji, MN and graduated from Bemidji High School in 1959.  Ruby married Alwin Wakeman on February 10, 1962 in Bemidji. They started their married life in Duluth, MN. In 1963, they moved to Grand Forks where Ruby was a homemaker and operated a very successful day care service. Ruby loved working with children, especially babies. She enjoyed spending time at the lake with her family, friends and relatives.

She is survived by a daughter, Lenora (Tim) Anderson; a son, Dewaine Wakeman, all of Grand Forks, ND; a sister, Ruth (Richard) Norvold, Bemidji, MN; brothers, Paul (Margaret) Powers, Seattle, WA and Aaron (Mary Ann) Powers, Bemidji, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 48 years, Alwin; sisters, Rena Powers and Reby Powers-Makey; brothers, Wesley Powers, Frank Powers and Joe Powers.

A Private Funeral Service : Will be held in the Historic Norman Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial: Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
