Ruth Lillian Birkholz McCann, age 97of Hudson, FL formerly Grand Forks,ND, passed away on April 29, 2022 in Hudson, FL.

Ruth was born on May 26, 1924 to Elmer and Bertha (Hett) Birkholz in Grand Forks, ND where she was raised and attended Central High School. She married Virgil McCann on March 6, 1943 and they made a home west of Thompson, ND. Ruth loved art, music, travel and crafts. She loved learning and tried her best to expose her children to a broad education. She was active in several local groups including church groups, a 4-H leader and many square dance clubs. She loved planning vacation trips and was able to explore a great deal of the US, Canada, and Switzerland. To her very last days she continued to draw and color each day. After the flood of 1997 Ruth moved to White Bear Lake, MN. She became a member of the Silver Harmonies, a singing group that entertained at nursing homes and other events. In 2004 she moved to Florida and spent her final years enjoying the warmth and sunshine.

She is survived by her children, James (Jane) McCann, Dan McCann, all Grand Forks, ND, Mary (Larry) Adams, Tarpon Springs, FL, Donna McCann, Bismarck, ND, Betty (Charles) Silvia, San Antonio, TX. Twelve grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Carol Spicer, and son-in-law and Don Spicer.

Memorial Service: Thursday, May 26, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Grand Forks, ND

Visitation: beginning at 1:00 p.m. until service time in the funeral home.

Burial: Memorial Park South Cemetery in Grand Forks.
