Sharon Yvonne (Bies) Schmidt , 83 years old from East Grand Forks, MN passed away August 2nd, 2026, at Valley Memorial Senior Living Nursing home in Grand Forks, surrounded by her family.

Sharon was born on Aug 20, 1942, in Perham, MN. The daughter of Harry Harms and Leona (Wiebe) Harms. She graduated from Perham High school and then moved to Fergus Falls, MN where she graduated from Beauty School, which is where she met and married David Bies. They then moved to East Grand Forks, MN. Sharon became a well known beautician in Grand Forks, ND, where she worked at various salons in her 40 plus years, retiring from JC Penny in Grand Forks. In 1994 she married Robert (Bob) Schmidt and added Michelle (Darcy) Fossum to the family.

Sharon was all about Family and Food gatherings.  She and was an amazing cook. She also enjoyed being the go-to "Mom", and the top hangout was her home.  Seeing and talking to her children and grandchildren was the highlight of everyday for her. Bunco was once a month and of course she was the Queen Leader.

Sharon is survived by her children Shelly (Dan) McDonald, East Grand Farks MN, David (Amy) Bies, East Grand Forks, MN, Jason (Jen Anderson) Grand Forks ND, Michelle (Darcy) Fossum.  Eleven Grandchildren and one Great Grandchild. Numerous Brothers and sisters in laws and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Robert (Bob) Schmidt parents, brothers Lee and his wife Kay Harms, Jim and his wife Kathy Harms.

Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2026 in the Norman Funeral Home Chapel, Grand Forks, ND.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service in the funeral home on Wednesday.
