Verna Ann Marcotte , aged 95, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 26, 2024, surrounded by family. Born July 19, 1929, Verna was a pillar of love and support to her extensive family and community.

Verna and Ovide Marcotte were married on November 16, 1948, in St. Alphonsus Church, Langdon, ND.  Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership, nearing their 76th anniversary this year. She was a devoted mother to her 11 children and a nurturing figure to many through her home daycare. Verna's kitchen was a hub of warmth, filled with the aromas of her cooking and baking.  Her hobbies included sewing in the form of baby bibs, embroidery-crafted baby blankets and dish towels.  She enjoyed tending to her garden.  She was an avid collector of cookbooks, salt & pepper shakers, and Princess House crystal.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication, survived by her husband, Ovide; 11 children, Linda Steffen, Carol (Gary Thomas) Luther, James (Cheryl Wawryk) Marcotte, Wayne (Kimberly) Marcotte, Vicky (Dean) Evenstad, Terry (Christine) Marcotte, Luchelle (Joe) Luther, Candace Howard, Pamela (Ernest) Storey, Thomas (Angela Obregon) Marcotte, Michael (Katie) Marcotte; brother, Harvey (Karen) Schneider, and sister-in-law, Theresa (Gene) Marcotte; 31 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Verna was preceded in death by her granddaughter Jamie Marcotte, grandson Paul Luther, great-grandson Paul Bendrick, 9 brothers, 1 sister, and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Verna Marcotte will be remembered, deeply missed, and forever cherished by those whose lives she touched.

Mass of Christian Burial: 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Grand Forks, ND.
Visitation: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 1, 2024, in the Historic Norman Funeral Home Chapel, with a 7:00 p.m. vigil service. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Saturday.
Burial: 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Calvary North Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
