Vernon D. Rooker, 85, of Grand Forks, ND passed away Friday, January 26, 2024, at his home in Grand Forks.

Vernon Dale Rooker was born on July 23, 1938, in Drayton, ND, the son of James and Hazel Bell (Albaugh) Rooker.  He was raised in rural Drayton, ND and attended school in Rosewood, MN. In 1958, Vernon met the love of his life, Darlene M. Srnsky.  Vernon and Darlene were married on August 1, 1959.  They welcomed three beautiful children into the world, Deborah, Dale, and Dean.  Vernon and Darlene moved to Grand Forks to be near family and friends. Vernon was employed as a sheet metal worker in Grand Forks and retired from Grand Forks Heating.  Darlene preceded him in death on July 17, 2021.

Vernon was a tinker and repair man.  He always helped his children and grandchildren remodel and work on houses.  Also, he rebuilt cars with his son, Dale and enjoyed going to casinos.

He is survived by his children, Deborah Stortroen, Grand Forks, ND, Dale (Jennifer Leen) Rooker, Grand Forks, ND, and Dean (Suraya) Rooker, Reynolds, ND; grandchildren, Cheyenne Stortroen, Michael (Kristie) Stortroen, Heather (Mike) Flores, and 7 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Darlene and a brother, Elmer Rooker.

Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 30, 2024, in the Historic Norman Funeral Home Chapel.
Family Greeting: One hour prior to the service in the funeral home on Tuesday
