WAYNE A. LUNDBY

Wayne A. Lundby, age 71 of Aneta, formerly of Grand Forks, died on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at the Aneta Parkview Health Center in Aneta, ND.

Wayne Lundby, a son of Roy and Gertrude (Dunnigan) Lundby, was born on February 19, 1954 at Grand Forks. He was reared and educated in Grand Forks, graduating from Grand Forks Central. After high school, he attended the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, where he received a degree in HVAC. Wayne began working at the Energy Research Center at the University of North Dakota. Unfortunately, his career there was cut short due to an ongoing health issue. He later began a second career working part time at Prairie Harvest as a care worker where he met the love of his life, Johna Schlenker. On June 10, 2005 they were married. Wayne again was forced into retirement due to his disability. In 2023 he moved to the Aneta Parkview Health Center where he has since resided.

Wayne was an avid sports fan. He loved Sioux hockey, the Minnesota Twins & Minnesota Vikings. He and his brother Mike, carried on their family rivalry supporting their Vikings against the Green Bay Packers. Wayne was on the 1973 Grand Forks Central Hockey team when they won the state championship with Wayne scoring the winning goal! Wayne loved country music, especially classic country and creative writing.

He is survived by his wife, Johna Lundby; brothers, Larry Lundby, Patrick (Tomi) Lundby and Jerry (Laurie) Lundby; sisters, Sharon (Alex) Scott, Linda (Tom) Suitt, Barbara Sobolik, Kristi (Gerald) Ness and Katy Gerstner; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and his Dunnigan cousins. He loved being a part of a large family, especially gatherings in Riverside Park or in Walhalla at the family farm.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Michael.
