WILLIAM JOHN LUKKASON

William "Billy" John Lukkason, age 62, of Grand Forks, died on Sunday December 11, 2022 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND.

William J. Lukkason, a son of Robert and Madeline Lukkason, was born on August 3, 1960 in Grand Forks, ND.  He grew up in Grand Forks and graduated from Red River High School in 1978.  He later moved to Fosston, MN where he has since resided.

He began working at Hugo's grocery store when he was in high school and worked his way up to being a produce manager.  After his time at Hugo's, he worked for Rygg Electric and had various other jobs.

In June 1984, Billy was joined in marriage to Brenda Rygg at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grand Forks, ND.  They were blessed with four boys: Bryan, Bobby, Michael and Tommy.

He was a hardworking man who enjoyed fishing, making memories at the family cabin on Grace Lake, telling stories, cracking a quick joke, and he had a passion for supporting the Fighting Sioux Hockey team.

Billy had a big heart and cared deeply for his friends and family.  He was especially proud of his four boys and their accomplishments throughout the years.

He is survived by his sons, Bryan (Michele) Lukkason, Robert (Kayla) Lukkason, Michael (Laura) Lukkason, and Thomas (Ashley) Lukkason; his nine grandchildren, Leo, Brooks, Beau, Colton, Lincoln, Lyla, Liv, Hudson and Carson; his siblings Lynn (Joe) Mendro, Robin (Dr. Craig Kouba) Scott, Becky (Rob) LaFavor, Charles (Michelle) Lukkason, Bobby (Renee) Lukkason, Timothy Lukkason and Dawn Lukkason; and many nieces and nephews.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Jo Marie Blackmun, and niece Chelsey Nikle.

Funeral Service : Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 1:00 pm at the Norman Funeral Home in Grand Forks, ND.

Visitation: 11:00 AM -1:00 PM at Norman Funeral Home with service to follow

Burial : Will be held at a later date.
