William "Bill" Zimmer , 82, of Grand Forks, ND and formerly of East Grand Forks, MN passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at his home in Grand Forks.

William Walter Zimmer born on December 19, 1939, in Grand Forks, ND the son of Leonard & Evelyn (Bohlman) Zimmer.  Bill graduated from Sacred Heart High School in East Grand Forks, MN in May 1957 and went on to attend the University of North Dakota for 2 years.  Bill married Mary Kay Sullivan on September 3,1959, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Bill was a hard worker and used his business skills in the retail business at Sears.  His retail career continued with Target Stores.  He was promoted to management and relocated from Minnesota to Texas.  In 1974, he opened and operated Zimmer's Liquor, for seven years, in Houston, Texas.  In 1981, Bill returned to East Grand Forks and was employed with Evelyn's Men's and Boy's stores.  Bill continued to be an entrepreneur. He graduated from East Grand Forks Technical Institute with a degree in Accounting.  Bill operated his own bookkeeping service and was employed with the American Legion Post 157, until his retirement in 2002.

Bill will be remembered by his family and friends as a kind and loving man.  He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his children, James P. Zimmer, Brooklyn Park, MN., Jean Ann (Mike) Anthony, San Clemente, CA., Jeff (Carmel) Zimmer, San Diego, CA., John W. Zimmer, Redondo Beach, CA.; stepbrother Matt Norton and stepsister, Laurie Norton; grandchildren; Michael Anthony, David Anthony and LeiAnna Zimmer.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard on November 28, 2001, his mother Evelyn on July 13, 1976, his twin brother, Robert J. Zimmer on March 7, 2020, and stepbrother John Norton.
